Another week is gone. I was looking forward to this particular end of the week for the simple reason that my mom is coming to visit us and she is arriving tomorrow, Saturday. I look forward to it and so is Deanna, excited to see her "buni" (granny).
Other half and Deanna picked me up from the station today as I arrived a bit later than usual. Dialogue in the car:
- How was your school today Deanna?
- Fine
- What did you do?
- Things, sticking, gluing, cutting... and so on.
- Do you know who's coming tomorrow?
- Buniiiiii
- Are you excited?
- Yes!
- But Buni is not speaking very much English.
- I know!
- Will you teach her?
- Yes! And she will teach me Romanian. And you have to teach me Romanian too because you live in Romania.
- I used to live in Romania, now I live here with you and daddy.
- Yes, but you used to live with Buni, in Romania. And daddy was living with Nana in London. I like Nana's house, but I like our house better. But I like to go and visit Nana sometimes.
- Yes, it's nice to visit Nana sometimes.
- Are we going to the airport tomorrow?
- Yes, Buni is coming by plane.
- I can't wait to see Buni, i'm so excited mommy!
I am excited too, to be honest. Haven't seen Mum since last Easter and she will be spending this year's Easter with us again. We'll be cooking traditional Easter food and dye eggs. Is going to be fun. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. This Sunday is Mother's Day here, another reason to be happy to have my mum around.
This evening Deanna wrote for the first time on a piece of paper "I love you" - something like that: I luv you. She also writes mommy and daddy - like that: Mumme, Dadde. She knows quite a few words now. She takes the sounds and transforms them in letters and words. I feel very proud of her, and I hope she feels proud of herself. At night time, when I am reading her bed time story she is starting to read the easy words with me. Sometimes we manage to read a whole paragraph together. I'm looking forward to the day when she will read her own stories. Or she will read stories to me at bed time.
