Deanna loves to cut paper with scissors, ever since she could handle a pair of scissors.. At first it was the safe type, baby scissors, that doesn't cut too well but would keep your child's fingers safe and their frustration at a maximum. Then it was a more grown up but still safe scissors that cut better but not as good as mommy's scissors. So one day, she started to use the normal scissors. Not even once she cut herself. That was until yesterday, when her dad bought her a pretty pink new pair of scissors that cut as well as the normal ones, but it stops her from loosing our scissors all over the place. So yesterday evening, Deanna had her first scissors cut, as thick as one strand of hair and about 2mm long. That combined with the fact that she's got a brand new box of pretty pink and coloured plasters, made her make more fuss about it than she usually does in this situations. She didn't cry, but she did mention the cut quite a few times before bedtime.
I love sleeping in the morning after the alarm clock is gone off. Thus, I usually put my alarm clock to ring 15 minutes before my normal wake up time, so i can snooze. These days i don't have to wake up too early, 7am. So my alarm clock rings at 6.45, with 5 minutes snooze time, three times.
But if you have a child, things are not going that smooth every morning.
-6.46am - Mommy, my plaster fell off my thumb, can you get me another plaster please?(that's what happened this morning). Of course, maternal instinct is quite powerful and if you know your child is awake and wants something, than, as much as you're trying to ignore it, it doesn't work. So I ask her to give me 5 more minutes (I know!!!, it should be the other way around) and try to snooze some more but other thoughts kick in, what is she wearing to school?, what breakfast will she have?, what day is today?, does she have any clubs today? did I take the meat out of the freezer? What am I cooking today?, etc etc etc. So of course i keep my eyes closed for another minute then, with much regret I decide to wake up.
Other reasons that wake me up before i am ready:
- 6.40am - Mommy I am cold/hot, can i have another blanket please?
- 6.45 am - Mommy, is it morning yet? Why is it so dark outside?
- 6.50 am - Mommy can I tell you my dream?
etc.
Of course it doesn't happen every morning, usually I manage to wake up before her and she would be the one to ask me for 5 more minutes. But we always remember the exceptions, don't we? :)
