The 7am alarm clock

Deanna loves to cut paper with scissors, ever since she could handle a pair of scissors.. At first it was the safe type, baby scissors, that doesn't cut too well but would keep your child's fingers safe and their frustration at a maximum. Then it was a more grown up but still safe scissors that cut better but not as good as mommy's scissors. So one day, she started to use the normal scissors. Not even once she cut herself. That was until yesterday, when her dad bought her a pretty pink new pair of scissors that cut as well as the normal ones, but it stops her from loosing our scissors all over the place. So yesterday evening, Deanna had her first scissors cut, as thick as one strand of hair and about 2mm long. That combined with the fact that she's got a brand new box of pretty pink and coloured plasters, made her make more fuss about it than she usually does in this situations. She didn't cry, but she did mention the cut quite a few times before bedtime.

I love sleeping in the morning after the alarm clock is gone off. Thus, I usually put my alarm clock to ring 15 minutes before my normal wake up time, so i can snooze. These days i don't have to wake up too early, 7am. So my alarm clock rings at 6.45, with 5 minutes snooze time, three times.

But if you have a child, things are not going that smooth every morning.
-6.46am - Mommy, my plaster fell off my thumb, can you get me another plaster please?(that's what happened this morning). Of course, maternal instinct is quite powerful and if you know your child is awake and wants something, than, as much as you're trying to ignore it, it doesn't work. So I ask her to give me 5 more minutes (I know!!!, it should be the other way around) and try to snooze some more but other thoughts kick in, what is she wearing to school?, what breakfast will she have?, what day is today?, does she have any clubs today? did I take the meat out of the freezer? What am I cooking today?, etc etc etc. So of course i keep my eyes closed for another minute then, with much regret I decide to wake up.

Other reasons that wake me up before i am ready:
- 6.40am - Mommy I am cold/hot, can i have another blanket please?
- 6.45 am - Mommy, is it morning yet? Why is it so dark outside?
- 6.50 am - Mommy can I tell you my dream?

etc.

Of course it doesn't happen every morning, usually I manage to wake up before her and she would be the one to ask me for 5 more minutes. But we always remember the exceptions, don't we? :)

Various

Vin Pastele, in curand.. .

Desi in gradina am si narcise inflorite, si zambile si branduse si mi-au inbobocit si lalelele si magnolia... e frig, mi-e frig.. pe dinauntru imi e frig, mi-a intrat frigul in oase. M-as baga sub plapuma si n-as mai iesi de acolo.. nici macar cand e soare... Cred ca m-a apucat astenia de primavara...
Nu simt asa in fiecare zi... in weekend imi place sa ma intind la soare ca o pisica.

About us

Another week is gone. I was looking forward to this particular end of the week for the simple reason that my mom is coming to visit us and she is arriving tomorrow, Saturday. I look forward to it and so is Deanna, excited to see her "buni" (granny).
Other half and Deanna picked me up from the station today as I arrived a bit later than usual. Dialogue in the car:
- How was your school today Deanna?
- Fine
- What did you do?
- Things, sticking, gluing, cutting... and so on.
- Do you know who's coming tomorrow?
- Buniiiiii
- Are you excited?
- Yes!
- But Buni is not speaking very much English.
- I know!
- Will you teach her?
- Yes! And she will teach me Romanian. And you have to teach me Romanian too because you live in Romania.
- I used to live in Romania, now I live here with you and daddy.
- Yes, but you used to live with Buni, in Romania. And daddy was living with Nana in London. I like Nana's house, but I like our house better. But I like to go and visit Nana sometimes.
- Yes, it's nice to visit Nana sometimes.
- Are we going to the airport tomorrow?
- Yes, Buni is coming by plane.
- I can't wait to see Buni, i'm so excited mommy!

I am excited too, to be honest. Haven't seen Mum since last Easter and she will be spending this year's Easter with us again. We'll be cooking traditional Easter food and dye eggs. Is going to be fun. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. This Sunday is Mother's Day here, another reason to be happy to have my mum around.

This evening Deanna wrote for the first time on a piece of paper "I love you" - something like that: I luv you. She also writes mommy and daddy - like that: Mumme, Dadde. She knows quite a few words now. She takes the sounds and transforms them in letters and words. I feel very proud of her, and I hope she feels proud of herself. At night time, when I am reading her bed time story she is starting to read the easy words with me. Sometimes we manage to read a whole paragraph together. I'm looking forward to the day when she will read her own stories. Or she will read stories to me at bed time.

Red Nose Day, Deanna, Friday

Photobucket

Azi in UK a avut loc actiunea "Red Nose Day - Do something funny for money", bani care se vor indrepta spre organizatii internationale de caritate, in special spre Africa.

Spring in my step

Nu ne-a luat decat vreo 5 ore care au inclus - joaca, dat in carusel (mary-go-round), mancat vata de zahar, alergat prin parc, dat in leagane, topogan si stiu cu sigurantza ca cel putin o persoana s-a bucurat extrem de iesire dupa o saptamana de vacanta in care a stat in casa pe motiv de tuse.

Zapada in UK

De ieri pana azi a nins in UK.

Si cand in sfarsit am fost deajuns de obositi si inghetati si uzi incat sa ne dam batuti, ne-am urcat in masina si am venit acasa.

We can't change the weather, only God can do it, but I had lots of fun today!"

- Mommy, do I have a Fairy Godmother?
- Maybe you do, who knows...
- I wish I had a Fairy Godmother.. I would like to be Cinderella.
- Ok
- But who is going to be my prince?
- I guess you can choose whoever you want...
- I want you to be my Prince!
- I can't be your prince, I'm your mommy.
- I will ask my Fairy Godmother to make me me a Princess and make you my Prince!

After school...

- Mommy, can you please read me a book?
- What book do you want me to read?
- I don't know, you choose, my mind is empty right now!

-------------------------

Watching Bambi

-Mommy, I am a princess too
- ok
- And i have to get married with a prince
- now?
- not now! when I get big!

-----------------------------

We were cuddling and kissing as she was in my arms and stroking my cheek:
-I love you mommy
- I love you too my princess
- I don't want to be a princess when i am big...
- What do you want to be then?
- An astronaut!

Conversations on the way to school

- Mommy, are you a teacher?
- No, darling, I am not a teacher
- But Holly Anne's mommy is a teacher
- I am not...
- But I want you to be a teacher when you grow up.
- I am already grown up. My job is to work with computers my love. I went to a different school than Holly Anne's mommy. I went to a school where you learn how to work with computers. Holly Anne's mommy went to a school where she learnt how to be a teacher.
- Then I have to go to an Astronaut school, if I want to become an astronaut
- Yes
- But I am going to a teacher's school now
- Don't worry, you're on the right track. All children go to same schools until they get bigger and then they go to special schools to learn how to become what they want to be.
- So, when I am bigger, I am going to an Astronaut school!

Dear Santa..

My sister in law helped Deanna write her letter to Santa today:

Dear Santa,

I am a good girl.
I learnt to zip my jacket.
I listened to mummy and daddy.
I enjoyed my school when i started it.
I would like:
1) a camera
2) a phone
3) a wall-e toy (robot).
Thank you.
Love,
Deanna
